“The role of sport in school for moral education in civic virtues”On September 12 and 13, a significant pedagogical forum of 68 physical education teachers from 30 cities across the country was held in Chepelare. The task of the conference was to examine and discuss ways to promote the moral education of students by developing initiatives and methodologies for the pedagogical process that teachers can use to build virtues in the behavior of students.

This forum puts into practice the strategy of cooperation with the education system, municipal authorities and sports organizations as an example of seeking solutions to the complex challenges of sport.
The conference was opened by the Mayor of Chepelare Boran Hadzhiev. The Head of the RDE Smolyan Nikola Zapryanov also welcomed the participants. The Secretary General of BOC Belcho Goranov presented the Order of Honour of BOC to the Olympians Milka Maneva and Pavlina Filipova and gave an update on Bulgaria’s preparations for the Olympic events next year.The methodological preparation and the holding of the forum is the result of the successful implementation of the achievements of the scientific project “Integration and harmonization of Olympic education programs with the curriculum and lesson plans in physical education” led by specialists of the National Sports Academy “Vasil Levski”.
The speakers of the conference were prof. Prof. Lozan Mitev, Assoc. Kornelia Naydenova, head as. Prof. Emilia Vitanova and Vanya Yordanova, Coordinator of International Activities of the Academy.Special attention was paid to the 100th anniversary of BOK and its place in the sports movement. The participants in the conference – mostly graduates of the NSA “Vasil Levski” were introduced to the latest achievements of the Academy and its newly changed appearance, as well as to the opportunities for permanent joint work with teachers throughout the year through the activities of the Olympic Education Center.
All participants were provided with a wide package of educational and methodological materials and films to support the learning process.
